ALSTEF offers a complete range of systems to sort baggage according to flow requirements, security status and destination.
Horizontal diverter : The horizontal diverters designed and manufactured by ALSTEF include a vertical belt. They can sort up to 1,200 bags per hour, at a 50% diversion rate. They are normally used to sort the bags according to security status (Example : separation of bags that must be screened by a tomography scanner) or to re-direct the bags to a redundant system in case of failure.
Vertical diverter : The vertical diverters designed and manufactured by ALSTEF are made of a frame supporting conveyors that can be automatically inclined towards other conveyors sorting the bags to different destinations (divergent valve) or group them (convergent valve). These diverters can sort up to 1,000 bags per hour at a 10% diversion rate ; they are normally used to sort bags according to security status.
Pusher (rapid horizontal diverter) : Pushers designed and manufactured by ALSTEF consist of a plate that is activated at high speed to divert up to 1,800 bags per hour. They are used to sort bags according to destination. When associated with a flat make-up carousel they ensure a strong, efficient and easy to install medium capacity system.
Rapid sorting valve (rapid vertical diverter) : the rapid vertical diverters designed and manufactured by ALSTEF consist of a group of 3 conveyors. These diverters can sort up to 1,800 bags per hour. They are normally used to sort bags according to security status (separation of bags that must be screened in a tomography scanner) or to balance the flows towards several sorting systems.
Multi-Sorting Tilt-Tray System : a multi-sorting tilt-tray system consists of a train of transport units : each unit receives a bag via rapid injection conveyors, and tilts at the destination chute to unload the bag.
The multi-sorting tilt-tray system proposed by ALSTEF are state-of-the-art propulsion systems based on synchronous linear motors that can achieve energy savings of up to 40%. Significant savings can also be obtained and wear reduced by adapting the speed (the speed is automatically adjusted based on typical traffic fluctuations). Cross-Belt Sorting System : the cross-belt sorters are different from the tilt-tray sorters in that the tray is replaced with a conveyor connected at right angles to the drive direction of the carts.
The cross-belt sorters proposed by ALSTEF provide several benefits compared to the multi-sorting tilt-tray systems traditionally used in airports. Sorting flow is highly superior for the same operating speed due to a lower pitch, more precise sorting to the chutes thanks to the active unloading by the conveyor (contrary to the passive sliding unloading for a tilt-tray system), very high configurability : possible unloading in curves, reduced required height, narrower chutes possible with the best unloading precision, …. The cross-belt sorting systems hare state-of-the-art drive systems based on synchronous linear motors that can achieve energy savings of up to 40%.
